  1. First, check for any injury due to the fall. If they are bleeding, then it gets more complicated. In that case, try to stop the bleeding. Next step is to move the person gently to try to get some response. If they still remain unresponsive, then the person is suffering from a cardiac arrest.

  1. Call an ambulance. Call the helpline numbers and tell the emergency services that the victim is suffering from cardiac arrest.

  1. Check if the victim’s airway is open. Put two fingers under their chin, the other hand on their forehead and tilt their chin upward so that the tongue can’t block the airway.

  1. If the person is still not breathing and only gasping, start giving CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to keep the brain functioning. Push hard and fast. Push down at least two inches at a rate of 100 to 120 pushes a minute in the center of the chest, allowing the chest to come back up to its normal position after each push. Use an Automated External Defibrillator as soon as you can get it. Continue with CPR until the person breathes or moves or the ambulance with emergency service personnel arrives.

Last but not the least, do not panic. Take a deep breath and follow the steps.
